Employee Referral Program


How does the referral program work?

Visit our careers page and refer careers via Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or by link. Your share is unique to you if we hire a candidate based on your share – you’ll be eligible for a Referral Bonus!  

For every eligible referral you can receive a bonus determined by the referral’s position job grade:

     9-11   $100
    12-15   $250
    16-21   $500

The more you share the more opportunity you have to earn. You can even access TalentSpark on your smart phone, allowing you to text your unique referral link directly to that perfect candidate.

The best news of all is that we’ll be tracking how many of these links are sent, and since each referral link is unique, we’ll know who our top referrers are for our contest.
Our top referrers every quarter receive a cool TalentSpark water bottle! You are only eligible to win a water bottle once.


Who can be referred?

Quality candidates you know professionally or personally, or who are a part of your social networks, who have the adequate knowledge, skills and work experience for the position(s) you are referring them for and who have not previously applied to our organization (Valley First, Envision Financial, Enderby Financial, Island Savings, or First West). You will be contacted if your referral is shortlisted for an opportunity to discuss skills, experience, and fit for First West Credit Union. Family members are eligible for referral as outlined in the HR Policy manual under “Employment”.

Who can participate in the referral program?

All team members are eligible to participate in The Employee Referral program with the exception of:

  • First West, Valley First, Island Savings, and Envision Financial Leadership Team
  • Regional managers, AVP’s, and Directors
  • Hiring managers recruiting for their own team
  • Talent Acquisition team members

Though these team members are excluded from The Employee Referral program, we encourage all employees at all levels to refer great talent!


What do I need to do?

  1. Share our opportunities from our career page by Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or by link.
  2. If your referral is successfully recruited into the organization within 6 months of your referral AND they pass the onboarding period you are eligible for the referral bonus!
  3. The bonus will automatically show up on your paycheque once eligibility requirements have been met.
  4. Both the employee and the referring employee must be employed with us at the time of the bonus to qualify.

Manage Your Channels and Get Referring!
  1. On your own computer, go to TalentSpark and click on your name in the upper-right corner to access Your Account.
  2. Here you can find your Unique Link to share with candidates, as well as edit user info.
  3. Most importantly, you can connect your social networks to make it that much easier to refer the perfect candidate for a position at First West.
  4. On your individual Your Account page on TalentSpark, connect your social networks
  5. Sign up for email career alerts – TalentSpark will suggest job postings for people you may know
