We are seeking a Senior Wealth Advisor to join our team.
 
The role provides professional financial planning services advice and provides recommendations to members on their investment portfolio, financial plan and retirement plan.  Opens investment accounts recommends investments and may recommend or refer insurance solutions.  Pro-actively seeks business development opportunities to promote growth of existing/new portfolio and promotes other Credit Union and subsidiary products and services.  Provides mentoring to Credit Union and subsidiary staff.  Provides leadership and coaching to the Investment Services Assistant and conducts quarterly and annual coaching and review sessions within corporate standards.
 
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day:
 
  • Business Development: Establishes and maintains relationships with existing members, within assigned portfolio; networks with external business organizations in the community to generate referrals; pursues relationships with potential new members and actively promotes the full range of First West products and services through participation in community initiatives and events.

  • Sales and Service Strategy: Provides complex financial planning advice on a wide range of investment products and services to high value current and potential members, utilizing financial planning tools provided; identifies needs based on member life cycle and provides appropriate investment vehicles or refers to product specialist within other FW lines of business; seeks opportunities to assist members in consolidating their financial assets with First West; conducts follow-up interviews with assigned members on an annual basis to identify changes in circumstances that would require alternate investment option.

  • Risk Management: Provides advice and acts in accordance with ethical standards, QtTrade policies and applicable regulatory requirements ensuring that risk to the member and First West are minimized; maintains compliance with First West audit and risk management policies and procedures.

  • Leadership: Builds relationship with branch employees and provides subject matter expertise and/or mentoring when required; schedules and facilitates product knowledge sessions with members and/or branch employees; provides input into or completes a performance evaluation for assigned support staff. Provides leadership and coaching to administrative employees to help drive a consistent member experience and enhance revenue.

  • Member Transactions: Ensures member accounts are opened and transactions/purchases completed accurately and within required timeframes; maintains up to date member files with all required documentation.

 
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
 
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course and Conduct Practices Handbook
  • 3-5 years experience in the financial industries with emphasis on financial planning and portfolio management
  • Completed or is willing to complete the CFP designation within 24 months from acceptance of the position
  • Life Insurance license is considered an asset
  • Self-starter who takes a pro-active approach to servicing members
  • Results oriented with the ability to coach others and motivate teamwork
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to plan, schedule, organize and prioritize work assignments with substantial coordination
  • Strong analytical skills in order to analyze financial statements
  • Ability to make complex decisions using considerable judgement
